Beavers (40th Anniversary) – Forbidden Corner

Date: 10th October 2026 Location: The Forbidden Corner, The Forbidden Corner, Middleham, Leyburn, UK Sections: Beaver Scouts

Our District Team is delighted to be organising a special visit for all Beaver Colonies as part of the celebrations marking the 40th Anniversary of Beaver Scouting. This significant milestone provides a fantastic opportunity to bring Beavers together from across Hambleton and District, celebrating four decades of adventure, friendship, learning, and fun.

To commemorate this occasion, we have arranged an exciting visit to The Forbidden Corner, a unique and award-winning adventure attraction set within the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Packed with tunnels, chambers, secret passages, gardens, follies, hidden surprises, and unexpected discoveries around every corner, it offers the perfect setting for an unforgettable Beaver adventure. Throughout the day, Beavers will be encouraged to explore, challenge their curiosity, work together, and enjoy the excitement of discovering one of Yorkshire’s most unusual attractions.

This event is intended to be much more than a simple day out. It is an opportunity for Beavers from across the District to come together as part of a shared celebration, recognising everything that Beaver Scouting has offered young people over the past 40 years. It will enable our youngest members to meet other Beavers, create lasting memories, and take part in a special anniversary event that reflects the values of Scouting: adventure, teamwork, discovery, and fun.

For more information about the venue, please visit: https://www.theforbiddencorner.co.uk/

We have successfully negotiated a reduced group entry rate for this event, which also includes admission for the adult volunteers supporting the Beavers throughout the day. By securing this discounted rate, we hope to make the event as accessible as possible for all members while ensuring that sufficient adult support is available to help provide a safe and enjoyable experience.

As with all Scouting activities, the safety and wellbeing of our young people remains our highest priority, to meet our supervision requirements, we must have a minimum of two DBS-checked adults for every six Beavers attending, if you are able to support the event as an adult volunteer, please speak with your local Beaver leadership team, who will be able to advise whether additional assistance is required from your Colony.

The cost of the event is £15 per Beaver, payable directly to your Beaver Colony. District will subsequently invoice each Colony for the number of participants attending, so please follow any payment instructions provided by your local leadership team.

To help manage arrivals and ensure a smooth start to the day, entry times will be staggered from 12:00 noon onwards. Specific arrival time slots for each Colony will be confirmed closer to the event date once final attendance numbers have been received and arrangements have been finalised.

Beavers should attend in full uniform and bring a packed lunch, a drink, and suitable outdoor clothing, including a waterproof coat. As much of the day will be spent outdoors exploring the attraction, families are encouraged to ensure that Beavers are dressed appropriately for the weather conditions and are prepared for an active day. A detailed joining instruction and kit list will be circulated nearer to the event.

To assist with planning and booking arrangements, please complete the form below whether your group wishes to attend or not attend the event, this will help us accurately assess interest levels and ensure that all Colonies have the opportunity to be included in this special anniversary celebration.
