Celebrating Under the Stars – North Hambleton District Scouts

As Cub Scouts across the UK continue a proud tradition that has inspired generations of young people, we are delighted to invite Cubs to a truly memorable event celebrating 110 years of Cub Scouting. Celebrating Under the Stars will bring together Cubs for a magical overnight adventure at Hillside on Friday 2nd October 2026, combining fun, friendship, adventure, and a shared sense of history as we mark this significant milestone.

From the moment they arrive, Cubs will be part of a unique celebration designed to capture the spirit of Cub Scouting. The evening will provide opportunities to meet other Cubs, make new friends, and enjoy being part of a large-scale event that recognises over a century of adventure, learning, and community.

As darkness falls, the celebrations will continue with a stunning outdoor cinema experience. Set within a large marquee adorned with sparkling fairy lights, Cubs will settle in with their friends and enjoy a family-friendly film in a cosy and exciting atmosphere. The glowing lights, night-time surroundings, and shared excitement of watching a movie together will create a truly memorable experience unlike a regular cinema visit.

The adventure does not end when the credits roll. Instead, Cubs will prepare for a special group sleepover, spending the night at Hillside alongside fellow Cub Scouts from across the district. Sleeping under one roof as part of a larger Cub Scout community will give young people the opportunity to share stories, enjoy the excitement of an overnight event, and experience the camaraderie that makes Scouting so special. We will have smaller tents if some of our Cubs want to sleep in them instead or if the unit prefers to have them separate.

Throughout the evening, Cubs will be encouraged to embrace the values of friendship, teamwork, respect, and adventure that have been at the heart of Cub Scouting for the past 110 years. Whether they are chatting with new friends, enjoying the film, or settling down for the night, they will be contributing to a celebration that honours generations of Cub Scouts who have come before them while creating memories of their own.

As the sun rises the following morning, Cubs will wake up knowing they have been part of a landmark event in Scouting history. The shared experiences, laughter, and friendships formed during the event will leave lasting memories and provide a fitting tribute to 110 years of Cub Scouting.

Celebrating Under the Stars promises to be more than just a sleepover, it’s an opportunity to be part of a historic celebration, experience the magic of an evening adventure with friends, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
