Squirrels

Squirrels is for young people aged 4 to 6 and provides their first opportunity to experience Scouts. In North Hambleton District, Squirrel Dreys are committed to offering a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where every young person can take part and feel a sense of belonging.

The Squirrels programme focuses on fun, friendship and exploration through a range of age-appropriate activities including games, crafts, songs, stories and outdoor play. Activities are planned to support early development of confidence, communication, teamwork and creativity, while encouraging curiosity and enjoyment.

Sessions are delivered by trained adult volunteers who follow The Scouts’ policies on safeguarding, safety and inclusion. We recognise that young people may have differing needs and abilities, and we work in partnership with parents and carers to understand these needs. Where required, reasonable adjustments will be made to activities, environments and delivery methods to ensure all young people can participate safely and meaningfully.
