Beaver Scouts is for young people aged 6 to 8 and is all about having fun, making friends and trying new things. In Beaver Colonies across North Hambleton District, young people are welcomed into a safe, friendly space where they can explore the world around them, build confidence and start gaining skills for life.
Every week, Beavers get stuck into a varied and exciting programme, this includes energetic games, hands‑on creative activities, trips and visits, outdoor adventures and opportunities to take part in sleepovers, through learning by doing, Beavers begin to develop independence, teamwork and a sense of responsibility, while discovering what they’re capable of.
Along the way, Beaver Scouts work towards a range of badges and awards, these recognize individual effort and personal progress, celebrating each young person’s achievements at their own pace. Beavers also learn about helping others, working together and playing an active role in their local community.
Sessions are led by trained adult volunteers who are passionate about helping young people have fun, feel they belong and stay safe. Across North Hambleton District, we’re committed to being inclusive and welcoming to every child. In line with The Scouts’ Equal Opportunities and Inclusion policies, we work closely with families to understand individual needs and put reasonable adjustments in place where required. This might mean adapting activities, offering extra support or changing how we communicate, so that every Beaver can take part fully and enjoy everything Scouts has to offer.
At Beavers, everyone’s welcome and every young person gets the chance to discover, grow and have an adventure.
