North Hambleton Strategy Day Sets a Positive Course for the Year Ahead

North Hambleton District Scouts came together this weekend for a vibrant and forward‑looking Strategy Day a chance for volunteers, youth representatives, and trustees to share ideas, shape priorities, and build momentum for the year ahead. The room buzzed with conversation, collaboration, and a shared determination to drive supportive Scouting across our district.

The day opened with Danielleour District Programme Lead energising the room with a positive focus activity.

Mark, District Lead Volunteer, introduced the HQ Strategy and led the main information setting of the morning.

We had some good workshopping sessions, guiding the group through practical discussions on programme support, volunteer experience, youth engagement, and district‑wide communication. With plenty of lively debate and constructive decision‑making, the group identified key areas where small, focused improvements will make a big difference.

Katriina, Chair of Trustees, took us througha pieceto helpus understand the differences between how the different generations approach their world and how we can best support each type to flourish. Her message was clear: when we listen, include, and empower, great things happen.

Our Youth Lead, Nikki, brought the voice of young people into the heart of the day. She shared insights from youth forums, highlighted what young people value most in their Scouting experience, and championed opportunities to strengthen youth‑led decision making across the district. Her contribution grounded the day in what matters most delivering brilliant experiences for young people.

Across the sessions, one theme kept resurfacing: North Hambleton works best when we work together. Volunteers shared ideas openly, challenged each other positively, and shaped a shared vision built on inclusion, celebration, and practical support.

A 12‑Month Focus — Clear, Achievable, and District‑Wide

By the end of the day, the group had agreed a set of district priorities to focus on over the next 12 months. These will guide our energy, help us support groups more effectively, and ensure we continue delivering high‑quality Scouting across North Hambleton.

The plan is intentionally simple: do a few things brilliantly, celebrate progress often, and keep young people at the centre.

Looking Ahead

We’ll revisit these priorities in the New Year, using the momentum from this Strategy Day to set longer‑term goals for the district. With strong leadership, committed volunteers, and youth voices shaping the journey, North Hambleton is stepping confidently into its next chapter.

The day closed with smiles, renewed motivation, and a shared sense that — together, we’re building something special.
