Scouts UK Launches Refreshed Explorer Scouts Programme

North Hambleton District Scouts is pleased to welcome the launch of Scouts UK’s refreshed Explorer Scouts programme, giving young people aged 14–18 even more opportunities to gain Skills for Life through adventure, teamwork and personal development.

Shaped by over 3,000 young people and volunteers, the updated programme reflects the experiences and challenges facing teenagers today. It combines outdoor adventure with practical skills that help young people build confidence, resilience and independence while having fun and making lifelong friendships.

From September, Explorer Scouts will be able to earn a range of new and updated badges, including Employability, Life Skills, Content Creation and Democracy, these join existing favourites such as Survival Skills, Pioneering, Camper and Caving, ensuring there is something for every young person to enjoy and achieve.

The refreshed programme also features an updated STEM badge, encouraging Explorers to develop problem-solving, engineering and creative thinking skills through hands-on activities and real-world challenges.

Alongside the programme changes, Explorer Scouts will also be introducing a new visual identity, including updated branding, badge designs and resources.

At North Hambleton District Scouts, we are excited to see our Explorer Scouts embrace these new opportunities. The refreshed programme reinforces what Scouting does best: providing young people with a place to belong, opportunities to challenge themselves, and the skills, confidence and experiences they’ll carry with them throughout their lives.

Adventure, friendship and Skills for Life remain at the heart of Explorer Scouts and we can’t wait to see what our young people achieve next.
