North Hambleton District Scouts back new Strategy to 2035
Scouts across North Hambleton District are supporting a new national strategy that sets out a clear and hopeful vision for how Scouting will support young people over the next decade.
Place to belong: Our Strategy to 2035 puts belonging at the heart of everything Scouts does. It focuses on making sure every young person feels welcome, supported and confident while having fun, making friends and gaining skills for life.
For volunteers across North Hambleton District Scouts, this vision feels close to home, every week, they see how a sense of belonging helps young people grow in confidence, try new things and make a positive difference in their local communities.
Life can feel pressured and uncertain for many young people, scouts can offer something different a safe and friendly space beyond school and home, where young people can be themselves, enjoy adventure and feel part of something bigger.
From weekly meetings to camps, outdoor activities and community projects, Scout Groups across North Hambleton District already help young people build friendships, resilience and confidence, the new strategy builds on this, helping us reach more young people and welcoming those from communities currently under‑represented in Scouting.
The strategy has been shaped by young people themselves, more than 3,000 young Scouts from across the UK shared what they want and need from Scouts in the years ahead.
They spoke about safe, judgement‑free spaces, outdoor adventure, real life skills and meaningful opportunities to lead, their voices will guide how Scouting is delivered locally in North Hambleton, as well as nationally.
By 2035, Scouts aims to be a growing, inclusive and sustainable movement with stronger communities, confident volunteers and more young people gaining skills and leading change.
By playing our part locally, North Hambleton District Scouts are helping to give more young people a place to belong and the skills they need for life.
