Date: 25th Dec 2025 Author: Philip Roberts

North Hambleton District Scouts are pleased to invite young people and adult volunteers from across the district to take part in an upcoming District Youth Forum, an event focused on empowering young people, celebrating their ideas, and ensuring their voices help shape the future of Scouting in North Hambleton.

The District Youth Forum will take place on Saturday 21 March 2026, from 10.00am to 12.00pm, at Northallerton Scouts and Guides Centre. The event will be organised and supported by the District Youth Team, who will ensure the forum is delivered in a safe, engaging and welcoming way. Further details, including joining information, will be shared with those attending closer to the event.

The Youth Forum will bring together young people from across the district to take part in open discussion, shared activities and collaborative conversations. It has been carefully designed to provide a safe, supportive and inclusive environment, where young people feel confident to share their ideas, listen to different viewpoints, and contribute positively to discussions about how Scouting continues to develop and grow at a local level.

By encouraging active participation and youth leadership, the forum reflects Scouting’s commitment to being youth-shaped, placing young people at the heart of decision-making. The event will give young people the opportunity to explore what Scouting means to them, celebrate what is working well, and suggest ideas for improvement. This feedback will help ensure that Scouting in North Hambleton remains relevant, engaging and accessible for all young people.

Mark Turner, District Lead Volunteer for North Hambleton District Scouts, said:

“The District Youth Forum is a really important opportunity for us to listen to our young people and learn from their experiences. Scouting is at its best when young people feel confident to share their ideas and know that their voices genuinely matter, this forum will help us shape the future of Scouting across the district in a way that reflects what young people want and need.”

Adult volunteers will attend the forum in a supportive role, helping to facilitate discussion and maintain a welcoming and respectful atmosphere, while enabling young people to lead conversations and express their views with confidence. This balanced approach supports the development of key life skills such as communication, teamwork and resilience, while reinforcing Scouting’s values of respect, inclusion and collaboration.

The District Youth Forum forms part of North Hambleton District Scouts’ wider commitment to listening to young people and embedding youth voice within district-level planning and decision-making. Insights and feedback gathered during the event will help inform future activities, priorities and development across the district, strengthening Scouting for both current and future members.

North Hambleton District Scouts look forward to welcoming young people and volunteers to this important event and continuing to work together to build a strong, inclusive and youth-led Scouting community.
