Cubs from Across North Hambleton Get Ready for Challenge Day Adventure

Date: 6th Dec 2025 Author: Mark Turner

Cubs from across North Hambleton District Scouts are invited to come together for an exciting Cub Challenge Day on Sunday 22 February 2026. The day promises plenty of fun, new friendships, and shared adventure.

The event will take place at Hillside Scout HQ, YO7 4AX, running from 10:00am to 3:00pm, and is open to Cub Packs from across the District. With a cost of just £8 per group (for teams of up to 8 Cubs), it offers an affordable and enjoyable opportunity for Cubs to experience Scouting beyond their usual Pack setting.

The Challenge Day is designed to celebrate everything that makes Cub Scouting great. Rather than focusing on badges or assessments, the emphasis is firmly on having a go, teamwork, and enjoying the experience. Cubs will move around a range of short, fun activity bases, each lasting approximately 8–10 minutes, giving everyone the chance to try something new, develop simple skills, and build confidence in a supportive environment.

A key feature of the day is its collaborative approach. Every Pack attending will contribute by running an activity base, bringing their own ideas, skills, and equipment. This creates a varied and exciting programme that reflects the creativity and enthusiasm of Scouting across the District, while also strengthening links between Packs and leaders.

The event also provides a fantastic opportunity for Cubs to meet others from different Packs, make new friends, and feel part of the wider Scouting family. For leaders, it’s a chance to connect with fellow volunteers, share ideas, and celebrate the positive impact of Cub Scouting across North Hambleton.

Cubs should bring a packed lunch, a water bottle, and plenty of enthusiasm to make the most of the day. Full support will be available throughout the event to ensure a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Packs are asked to register their interest, provide approximate numbers, and confirm attendance by 9 January 2026, allowing organisers to plan effectively and ensure the event runs smoothly.

The Cub Challenge Day is set to be a real highlight of the Cub calendar — a celebration of fun, friendship, teamwork, and adventure, and a fantastic example of Cub Scouting at its best.
