Lead the Adventure: Programme Team Leader Role Now Open!

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, creative leader to take on one of the most important roles in North Hambleton Scouts — Programme Team Leader.

This is your chance to shape the adventures, activities and experiences that help hundreds of young people across our District gain Skills for Life.

As Programme Team Leader, you’ll work with volunteers to deliver fun, inclusive, and high-quality programmes that inspire young people, grow their confidence and create memories that last a lifetime.

Why this role matters

  • You’ll shape a positive, youth-focused programme that opens doors to learning, adventure, and self-discovery.
  • You’ll work alongside dedicated volunteers in a supportive, values-driven atmosphere—rooted in integrity, respect, care, belief and cooperation.
  • You’ll play a part in helping Scouts step up, speak up and dream big Scouts.

Who we’re looking for

  • Someone passionate about creating opportunities for young people to try new activities, gain confidence and make lasting memories.
  • A natural motivator who helps volunteers feel empowered, inspired, and supported in delivering a quality programme.
  • A curious and adaptable thinker—ready to roll up their sleeves, experiment with new ideas, and shape Scouting to be relevant, exciting and inclusive.

What you’ll do

  • Guide volunteers to deliver engaging, diverse, and life-enhancing programmes.
  • Help build inclusive experiences where young people from all backgrounds feel welcome and inspired.
  • Collaborate with fellow Team Leaders to weave together a creative, adventurous Scouting programme across the district.

Tools, Support and Flexibility

As Team Leader, you’ll be supported every step of the way by our District team and Scouts UK resources, including:

  • Programme planning tools, badges and activity ideas
  • Training, workshops and best practice guides
  • A peer network of other Programme Team Leaders across the UK
  • Flexible volunteering options that fit around your life

You don’t need to be a Scouting expert — just someone with energy, creativity and a passion for helping young people thrive.

What You’ll Get in Return

  • Experience leading a team with purpose and vision
  • A chance to shape how Scouting looks and feels across North Hambleton
  • Opportunities for personal development, coaching and networking
  • The satisfaction of knowing you’re helping young people discover skills, friendships and adventures for life

As one volunteer put it: “The best part is seeing young people achieve something they didn’t think they could — and knowing you helped make it possible.”

Join Us as Programme Team Leader

This is a flexible volunteer role designed to fit around your lifestyle. On average, you can expect to contribute around 4–6 hours per month, including:

  • Supporting programme planning across the District
  • Working with Section Leaders to bring fresh ideas to life
  • Collaborating with other District Team Leaders
  • Helping ensure every young person has access to an engaging, inclusive programme

Much of the role can be done remotely and at times that suit you — perfect for someone with other commitments who still wants to make a big difference.

This is your chance to lead a vital team that shapes the Scouting adventure for young people across North Hambleton. Ready to apply or find out more? Contact us for a no-pressure chat — we’d love to hear from you.

Closing date: 31st December 25
