Growth & Development Resources

Across North Hambleton District, we support over 450 young people to gain Skills for Life. We want to make sure even more young people can benefit from Scouting, with Groups that are welcoming, sustainable, and reflective of the communities they serve.

Taking time to think about the growth and development of your Section or Group is key to helping it thrive now and well into the future. Whether you’re exploring new provision, growing your team, or strengthening what you already have, the right support can make all the difference.

Below you’ll find a range of resources to support growth and development across the District. If there’s something you’d like help with that isn’t covered here, please get in touch with the District Lead Volunteer.

HQ Growth and Development Webinars

UK Headquarters runs a range of practical webinars designed to support growth, volunteer recruitment, and opening new provision. These sessions are a great way to learn from others, build confidence, and pick up ideas you can use locally.

Recruitment Resources

If you’re representing your Group at a local event or activity to recruit new volunteers, we have district resources available to help you make a great impression.

The recruitment kit includes:

  • A 3m x 4m gazebo
  • Pull-up banners
  • A display table and tablecloth
  • A selection of posters and badge books

These resources help create a strong visual presence and make it easier to start conversations within your local community.

To check availability or book the kit, please contact the District Lead Volunteer. For ideas on how to get the most out of the kit, take a look at the Recruitment Toolkit.

Grow Your Team

Welcoming new adults into Scouting is essential to offering great experiences to as many young people as possible. Recruitment isn’t always easy, but these practical steps can help:

Once someone shows interest, make sure they understand what’s involved, including time commitment, training, and DBS checks. Pair them with a buddy, check in regularly, and help them feel part of the team – and always remember to say thank you.
