Ignite

Ignite is North Yorkshire Scouts’ flagship activity weekend for Scouts and Explorers, designed to be packed with adventure, excitement and opportunities to make unforgettable memories. It’s a true “queue-and-do” event, with a wide-ranging open programme running from start to finish, allowing young people to take control of their own experience and get involved in the activities that interest them most.

Throughout the weekend, Scouts and Explorers are free to explore the site at their own pace, discovering new challenges, trying activities they may never have experienced before, and making friends from across North Yorkshire and beyond. With no fixed rota or timetable to follow, participants can choose what they do next, creating a flexible and youth-led adventure that encourages independence, confidence and decision-making.

Whether they’re seeking high-energy thrills, testing their skills, learning something new, or simply enjoying time with friends, Ignite offers something for everyone. The relaxed and inclusive atmosphere helps young people step outside their comfort zones, meet others from different Groups and Units, and embrace the spirit of Scouting through shared experiences.

As part of the weekend, we also offer a dedicated Explorer-only activity, giving Explorers the chance to enjoy a unique experience tailored specifically to their section. Not only does this provide an exciting challenge for current Explorers, but it also gives Scouts a glimpse of what’s waiting for them as they move on to the next stage of their Scouting journey.

Ignite is all about adventure, friendship and freedom of choice, making it one of the most anticipated events in the North Yorkshire Scouts calendar and a weekend that young people return to year after year.
