Welcome to 2026 – A Year of Celebration and Adventure

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year, and that you were able to enjoy a well-earned break from Scouting, spending quality time with family, friends and loved ones, thank you for everything you do throughout the year to support young people across North Hambleton.
As we step into 2026, I’m genuinely excited about what lies ahead for Scouting in our District, this year promises to be a truly special one, full of celebration, opportunity and ambition.
2026 will see some incredible milestones across our movement:
- Squirrels celebrate 5 years of introducing our youngest members to the adventure of Scouting
- Beavers mark an amazing 40 years of fun, friendship and first steps in Scouting
- Cubs reach a remarkable 110 years of developing skills, confidence and character
These anniversaries are powerful reminders of the lasting impact Scouting has had and continues to have on generations of young people, our communities, and wider society.
Alongside these celebrations, Scouts HQ will also be launching the new National Strategy, this will act as a clear compass for the movement, helping guide us through the opportunities and challenges ahead, and shaping how Scouting evolves over the next nine years to remain relevant, inclusive and impactful.
Throughout the year, I’ll be out and about across the District as much as possible, visiting Groups, Sections and events, please do come and say hello, I’d love to hear your ideas, experiences and aspirations, I’m particularly keen to explore how we can continue to strengthen and develop our District team, so that we can better support Groups, Sections and individual volunteers in everything they do.
Let’s make 2026 a year of growth, adventure and inspiration, delivering unforgettable experiences for every young person in North Hambleton Scouts, together, through teamwork, creativity and commitment, I know we can achieve amazing things.
Thank you for all you do and I’m really looking forward to the year ahead.
