Explorers (ages 14–18)

Explorers is for young people aged 14 to 18 and supports the transition to adulthood through independence, responsibility and personal challenge. In North Hambleton District, Explorer Units offer a flexible, youth-shaped programme that reflects the interests, abilities and aspirations of young people.

Explorers take part in adventurous activities, expeditions, camps, volunteering, leadership roles and international opportunities. They can work towards nationally recognised awards such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and the King’s Scout Award, developing skills, confidence and experience that support future education, employment and volunteering.

Explorer Units are supported by trained volunteer leaders who act as mentors, ensuring a safe, inclusive and supportive environment. In line with Scouts UK inclusion policy, reasonable adjustments will be identified and implemented where appropriate to enable all young people to access opportunities and achieve their potential.
