Welcome to North Hambleton District Scouts, we help young people and adult volunteers develop confidence, skills for life and lasting friendships through everyday adventure.

We were formed in 2023 through the merger of Leven and Northallerton Districts, North Hambleton District Scouts proudly supports Scouting across this beautiful part of North Yorkshire, our District brings together young people and volunteers from towns, villages and rural communities from the historic streets of Great Ayton to the heart of Bedale, from the market town of Masham to the Hillside Scout Group at Knayton.

Our Scouting family stretches across both sides of the A19 and includes groups in Leeming, Northallerton, Romanby, Appleton Wiske, Welbury, Hutton Rudby, Swainby, Kirkby, Masham, Knayton, Stokesley and beyond, each group plays an important role, contributing its own energy, character and local identity.

Together, we form a strong network of adventure, learning and friendship, from outdoor activities and skills development to community involvement and shared celebration, our District is united by a commitment to inclusion, discovery and helping young people reach their full potential, Scouting in North Hambleton is more than a programme, it’s a community shaped by the people and places of North Yorkshire.

We offer fun, challenge and adventure for young people aged 4 to 25, supporting them at every stage of their Scouting journey:

• Squirrels (4–6) – Curious, creative and discovering the world around them
• Beavers (6–8) – Energetic explorers learning through play and teamwork
• Cubs (8–10) – Building confidence, independence and new skills
• Scouts (10–14) – Taking on challenges and developing leadership
• Explorers (14–18) – Adventurous, independent and shaping their future
• Scout Network (18–25) – Continuing their journey through service, fun and adventure

As of November 2025, North Hambleton District supports around 500 young people, made possible by the dedication of 160 adult volunteers across 9 Scout Groups and 5 Explorer Units, whether meeting indoors, exploring the outdoors or supporting our local communities, Scouting is thriving across the District.

As a District, we continue to develop and strengthen our shared identity and we’re excited about what lies ahead.
