North Hambleton District Scouts
Purpose of the Role
The Programme Team Lead ensures every Beaver, Cub, Scout and Explorer in North Hambleton has access to a safe, high‑quality, exciting programme. They lead a team of volunteers who support Section Teams, connect them with activity experts, and help bring the very best of Scouting to life.
What You’ll Lead
As Programme Team Lead, you will guide and coordinate a team that:
– Supports Sections to run brilliant weekly programmes and community projects
– Helps volunteers understand and deliver new badges, activities and Top Awards
– Encourages and enables adventurous activities, international trips and nights away
– Supports volunteers to gain Nights Away Permits and access activity specialists
– Organises inclusive District events that individual Sections couldn’t run alone
– Identifies learning needs and links volunteers with development opportunities
– Creates networking opportunities so leaders can share ideas and good practice
Key Responsibilities
– Provide clear leadership, and encouragement to Programme Team members
– Build strong relationships with Section Teams, GSLs and the District Leadership Team
– Ensure the District programme offer is safe, inclusive and high‑quality
– Coordinate District‑wide events and activities, ensuring they meet Scouting standards
– Promote youth‑shaped Scouting by enabling young people to influence programme ideas
– Monitor support needs across the District and match volunteers to expertise
– Champion adventurous opportunities and help remove barriers for Sections
– Communicate updates, opportunities and good practice across the District

Training & Support
You’ll complete the core learning for Programme Team members and receive additional leadership training to help you succeed in the role. Ongoing support is provided by the District Leadership Team.

Time Commitment
Flexible and shaped around your availability. Most activity is planned in advance and can be done around work, family and other commitments.
